Known as the writer and director of the first Hip-Hop movie, Wild Style in 1983, Ahearn began his cinematic career with this low budget, Super-8, martial arts film. It was through its filming that he met Fab 5 Freddy and Lee Quinones and others who became instrumental in helping him with his subsequent, ground-breaking project.
