number 21 of only 50 deluxe copies signed by robinson with an additional suite and a portrait plate of Twain. The story, based on an old camp tale, was published in 1865; the French translation was issued in 1872. In 1882, Twain published an edition containing the original story, the French translation, and his "re-translation clawed back into English." The Cheloniidae edition contains all three versions.
