With 27 out of 29 images. This beautiful portfolio shows a diverse series of works by avant-garde photographers of the 1950s. Design by G. Mansolas, Ray Metzker and T. Rago. Photomechanical prints (26) and one silver print (by Harry Callahan), some photo-illustrations are mounted or on folded sheets, some have printed tissue or acetate overlays, and on various paper stock; some wear to the covers. 4to; an information bi-fold with essay by Aaron Siskind, list of contents, and credits page; contents loose as issued. FIRST EDITION.

Student Independent 2: Photographic Issue is a portfolio of prints created in 1957 from photographs taken by Institute of Design students and faculty. Work was dedicated to the memory of Frank Barr.

Student Independent 2 was published in a small run, possibly around 100. It was published in the Visual Design studio in the southeast corner of the Crown Hall basement.
