Jacomb Hood, and Lancelot Speed. 8vo, publisher's original gilt-pictorial cloth, most in very good condition and still bright, some vulnerable spines (like Pink, Red, and Lilac) faded, scattered light rubbing and occasional fraying to spine ends; hinges repaired in first three volumes, inked owner's signatures or inscriptions in Blue, Brown, Olive, Pink, Orange, Lilac, and Violet Fairy Books; some internal foxing in a few volumes; lacking dust jackets. complete and lovely set of the classic fairy tales created by Lang and his wife Leonora. Titles include Blue, Red, Green, Yellow, Pink, Grey, Violet, Crimson, Brown, Orange, Olive and Lilac.
In the preface to the Green Fairy Book, which was the third, he states that it will probably be the final volume. In the preface to the fourth, The Yellow Fairy Book, he thanks all the children who urged him to create yet another.
