First Edition, first issue, in earliest state 2nd issue dust jacket, with $3.50 price and no Caldecott medal on cover, but mention on rear flap. Boards a bit soiled; dust jacket with a few small chips along top edge and spine, some staining along edges. New York: Harper & Row, 1963 First Edition in the 2nd issue dust jacket with points as above and with the Caldecott stamp as the books were recalled in March, 1964 to reprint the dust jackets and apply the medal stickers right after the Caldecott was awarded.
