The introduction states that this volume is based on an illustrated book called "Lenin for Children" published in the Soviet Union. A translation was adapted for American children by Ruth Shaw and William Siegel. Harry Alan Potamkin revised the manuscript and incorporated material from Lenin's childhood which he gleaned from the reminiscences of Lenin's sister.
