(CHINA; JAPAN) boxer rebellion Album compiled by a German officer containing more than 200 photographs of China and Japan, including many pictures depicting the aftermath of the Boxer Rebellion, gruesome views of decapitated bodies in the streets intermingled with quaint images of local peasants and street merchants, the removal of bodies of Chinese who succumbed to the plague of 1911, picturesque landscapes as well as German officers enjoying outings around Peking and Tientsin, military parades, temples and palaces, beautiful Asian women in traditional clothing, and more; with 5 hand-colored albumen photographs of Japanese temples and 10 postcards of China.
