Additional Details

This pennant was produced for the 28 August 1963 March on Washington, where Martin Luther King gave his famed "I Have a Dream" speech. A photograph of demonstrators at the march owned by Getty Images (WashDC003) shows a woman waving another example of this pennant on a stick. On verso is the manufacturer's printing: "Freedom Pennant / St. Clair, Scott, Baldwin." It is unclear whether this represents a place, a manufacturer, or both, but St. Clair, Scott, and Baldwin are all Pennsylvania townships south of Pittsburgh. None in OCLC, none others traced at auction.
