The murder of these three young men, was just one more instance of the brutality inflicted on civil rights workers in Mississippi. Andrew Goodman, James Chaney and Michael Schwerner had traveled to Philadelphia, Mississippi to help in the struggle. They were murdered late at night on June 21. Their bullet-ridden bodies were found by FBI agents 44 days later. Forty-one years later, one man was charged and is currently serving a 60-year sentence.
