Individual portraits include Malcolm X, Jim Brown, A. Philip Randolph, Paul Robeson, Richard Wright, Coretta Scott King, Martin Luther King, Stokely Carmichael, H. Rap Brown, Ralph Abernathy, Floyd McKissick, Adam Clayton Powell Jr., and more. Other images include Myrlie Evers at her husband's open casket; student Vivian Malone shown desegregating the University of Alabama campus in 1963; Charlayne Hunter desegregating the University of Georgia in 1961; the Black Power salute by Tommy Smith and Juan Carlos at the 1968 Olympics; a lunch counter protest; and riot images from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Detroit. The images have manuscript chapter and image numbers on verso, apparently for an unidentified book project.
