Additional Details

an exceedingly rare example of the variant printing of the iconic placard carried by striking union sanitation workers in Memphis the week Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed. This placard was re-designed and carried by Atlanta Sanitation workers on the April 4, 1970 Memorial gathering for King held at his gravesite. The present example was obtained from Andrew Young. He had picked it up at the site after someone dropped it. A photograph by Tom Coffin showing people carrying the placard can be seen on the Georgia State University's web-site. Considerably fewer of these placards were made than the original 1968 ones. We have never seen another example of this placard in commerce.
