Additional Details

an excellent representative group of photographs chronicling the events that took place after nine african american students attempted to enter little rock arkansas high school to desegregate it in 1957. Their enrollment was followed by the Little Rock Crisis, in which the students were initially physically blocked from entering the racially segregated school by Orval Faubus, the Governor of Arkansas. When things started to get violent, President Dwight D. Eisenhower stepped in and ordered the school desegregated.
