Following the Supreme Court's decision in Brown v Board of Education, a group of African-American students enrolled in Arkansas's Little Rock Central High School. The "Little Rock Nine" as they were called, suddenly found themselves the subject of the nation and the world's headlines when they were prevented from entering the racially segregated school by Arkansas's Governor Orval Faubus himself. It took the intervention of then President Eisenhower to enforce the school's integration.
