A rare anti-lynching poster from the NAACP's campaign to get legislation passed to make the practice illegal. It was in fact not on the books as a crime. This poster asks the question "Is Rape the 'Cause' of Lynching?" Of the 3436 people lynched in the United States between 1889 and 1920, only 571, or less than 17% were ever even accused of rape. A very powerful broadside.
