The town of Cairo at the southern tip of Illinois was the scene of more-than-usual racial unrest in the late 1960s. In response to escalating fire-bombings and attacks by the local "White Hat" white supremacists, the United Front was formed in April 1969 as a coalition of African-American religious and militant groups. This unusual partnership is well illustrated in this poster, with a pistol resting on a Bible over a biblical verse. We know of no other United Front material at auction.
