As the nation drifted closer to World War Two, this statement protested against continued discrimination in the military and defense industries. They asserted that "the Negro people want nothing of Hitler; they detest him and all his practices," but pointed out that racist practices in British-held Africa made the United Kingdom an uncomfortable ally. It is signed in type by 22 prominent African-Americans ranging from firebrand Paul Robeson to more mainstream figures such as Mary Church Terrell.

The statement, with an expanded list of sponsors, appeared in the Pittsburgh Courier of 31 May 1941. We trace no other examples in OCLC or at auction.
