White metal, painted white at one time, now a cream color, with the single word "WHITE" stenciled in gray on the side; 10x13x9 1/2 inches with chrome (stainless steel?) pipe attachments and mouthpiece. Np [American South], circa 1940s-1950s

Additional Details

Less than fifty years ago, all public facilities below the so-called Mason-Dixon Line were segregated. This water fountain gives mute testimony to that hateful era.
