Additional Details

two important telegrams regarding the murder of harry t. moore, addressed to lillie m. jackson. Jackson (1889-1975) was head of the Conference of State Branches of the NAACP at this time. These telegrams refer to the Christmas Eve bombing murder of NAACP Florida officer Harry T. Moore. Roy Wilkins writes: "Entire nation shocked by murder on Christmas Night of Harry T. Moore. Protests have appeared but we believe most powerful one would be statement by you as state President. . ." Walter White writes: "First send telegrams of protest demanding action to president Truman at White House and attorney General J. Howard McGrath at Dept of Justice." White's telegram goes into great detail on a three point plan for organized protest against racism and white violence in the country.
