Additional Details

A tribute to Edward Dickinson Baker (1811-1861), a friend of Lincoln, and an important figure in the early history of several western states. He was the sitting senator for Oregon when chosen as the colonel of the California Regiment; he soon died at Ball's Bluff, the only United States Senator ever to die in combat. This volume was published by the California Regiment. None traced at auction, not in Nevins, and only 4 in OCLC.
