Additional Details

The highlight is an 8 March 1862 letter written by an unknown Confederate soldier, on letterhead illustrated with portrait of Jefferson Davis: "The idea of facing a cannon ball is by no means pleasant. One man's life is no sweeter than another, why then should I not go forth in defence of my country's freedom." Other letters are written by Union soldiers (and one civilian), including James K. Robson of the 8th New York Cavalry and Orlan [Dewitt?] of the 5th New York Cavalry. Full inventory upon request.
