The history of the Confederate guerrilla Champ Ferguson (1821-1865) who terrorized Tennessee, allegedly killing more than 100 Lincolnites including civilians. The author gives several detailed examples, noting "Most of the murdered men were my acquaintances, some were near neighbors in Tennessee, and nearly all the accounts of murders have been given me by eye-witnesses, in most cases by some member or members of the family."
