Grinnell, written vertically on terminal page of Heth's letter to Grinnell. Heth's letter, ALS, "H Heth / Maj Gen'l," expressing "high admiration for you, as a gentleman, and soldier. You have done your duty zealously and faithfully, your courage on every battlefield in which you participated, has not only attracted my notice, but that of many of our common superiors. . . ." 1 page, 4to, ruled paper, with integral blank; complete separation at horizontal fold, cello tape repairs at horizontal folds verso, staining from cello tape affecting text of endorsement and letter (but still legible), holes at fold intersections, faint scattered soiling.
