Additional Details

"I was there, first on the morning of the 2nd of July, at a point about half way between the cemetery and Round Top. I went with our skirmish line clear across the open fields to the peach orchard and brick house. Then to the left to Devils Den, where we had a terrible fight. Then back to the memorable field of that frightful onslaught of the 3rd." Hildreth was stationed at the unit's hospital after the battle, and recalls a Mrs. Wert who supplied milk and eggs to the soldiers--apparently a friend of Fenton's.
