Additional Details

South Carolina's original ordinance of secession, which was essentially the Declaration of Independence of the Confederacy, was drafted and signed on 20 December 1860, and first appeared as a lithograph publication a few months later.
In March of 1865, the 102nd Regiment of United States Colored Troops found a copy in the home of a Dr. Lamb, and added their own manuscript inscription declaring it to be a "Scroll of Treason." This annotated version was brought back to Michigan and published as a war trophy, complete with the facsimile text of the original Ordinance of Secession and facsimile signatures of all the members of the South Carolina which had declared independence.
