Additional Details

Describes the Battle of Island Number Ten, the subsequent capture of almost the entire regiment and their exchange, the siege and surrender of Port Hudson, a second span in Union prison, and the final months of the war with the Army of Tennessee in the Atlanta Campaign. "A good but brief narrative, far above the usual statistical monologue normally found for company histories"--Nevins, page I:159. Howes S586 ("aa"). Inscribed by Henry M. Pratt (1877-1960), son of the company's Lieutenant Merrill E. Pratt (1828-1889), who was wounded at Port Hudson (see page 67). They were members of the founding family of Prattville, where this book was issued. Only one other example traced at auction since 1900.
