Proof of a cut titled "Soldier's Portable Camp Writing Case," 4 1/2 x 4 inches, printed in black, with 2 examples of the resulting patriotic cover printed in blue with printer's imprint, 3 x 5 1/2 inches Proof of a cut of a young soldier, 4 x 3 3/4 inches, printed in black, with 4 variant printings of the resulting patriotic cover in red, blue and black, 3 x 5 1/2 inches, most naming him as Luther C. Ladd of Alexandria, NH, who was killed in the Baltimore riot on 19 April 1861. 2 of these were printed specially for use by the Sixth Regiment Mass. Volunteer Militia.
