Additional Details

A demonstration of 27 patriotic woodcuts available to use at the Dickinson Type Foundry for use on stationery or advertisements. All of them depict flags; most relate to military themes or the Constitution. The flags each bear 34 stars, placing the date between July 1861 and July 1863. The selection of General Winfield Scott as the one portrait depicted (cut "R") suggests a production date before his October 1861 resignation. Two examples in OCLC, and none traced at auction.
