Additional Details

A very detailed depiction of Camp Sprague near the Eckington neighborhood in the District of Columbia. It was laid out under the command of Colonel Ambrose Burnside in the opening months of the war. A key shows the barracks of the various companies raised in Providence, Pawtucket, Woonsocket, Westerly, and Newport, laid out with distinctively Providence-inspired street names such as Hope, Prospect, Westminster, and Benefit. An inset depicts soldiers lounging at "Burnside Cottage." 2 copies in OCLC, and none traced at auction.
