First edition, reprinted in Baltimore two years later. Signed by the author. Bradley Tyler Johnson was a Maryland secessionist who helped form the 1st Maryland Infantry in the Confederate Army, rose to command that regiment, and became a Confederate brigadier general in 1864. His lecture describes the Confederate army's Maryland Campaign of September 1862 which culminated in the Battle of Antietam; Johnson was a participant.
