Additional Details

An epic poem by a Providence clergyman, inspired by a vision of Lincoln. It discusses events through the 24 May death of Elmer Ellsworth. Two of the 36 verses extol Rhode Island's Governor Sprague, then preparing to lead his state's troops into action. None others known at auction, and only two other copies traced, at Brown University and the Library of Congress--both in lesser condition.
