Charles Henry Parker (1833-1863) was a corporal in the 16th New Hampshire Infantry, a nine-month regiment which served mostly in Louisiana. His brother John McClary Parker (1836-1920) was with the 3rd New Hampshire Infantry, mustering out as a lieutenant in 1864. This collection includes: 10 letters home from Charles, December 1862 to April 1863, some with good descriptions of the Louisiana plantations he marched through; he fell ill and died shortly after the last letter 2 letters home from John, January and July 1864 21 monthly quartermaster and inventory reports from the 3rd New Hampshire, 1864 7 letters from mother Mary M. Parker to John, 1863-64 2 letters from John's fellow soldiers in the 3rd New Hampshire to John's father Amos Parker, 1861 and 1863 and 2 affidavits, 1864 and 1865.
