Additional Details

An account in verse of a December 1864 raid to destroy Confederate supply lines on the Petersburg & Weldon Railroad south of Richmond. The action is variously known as the Hicksford Raid, Weldon Raid, or Stony Creek Raid. The author, Louis T. Shultz or Schultz of Washingtonville, NY, was a sergeant in the 124th New York Infantry at the time, and participated in the raid. 4 in OCLC, and none traced at auction since 1915.
