Additional Details

A few days after Fort Sumter and just before the Baltimore Riot, this Indiana newspaper gathered all of the intelligence on the rapidly developing war. A section of news from Washington describes the hurried formation of a defense unit among State Department employees, the stationing of a Kansas unit in a room of the White House, and stones hurled at Pennsylvania troops while passing through Baltimore. Reports on new regiments are recorded from around the country.
