Additional Details

The bulk of this album contains 21 engraved card portraits of Lincoln, Stanton, Grant, Halleck, Hooker, Banks, Meade, Sickles, Buell, Sigel, Gilmore, Meagher, Corcoran, Price, Jefferson Davis, Lee, Stonewall Jackson, Beauregard, Johnson, Bragg, and Hill. The Confederate figures are all presented together at the end. Some of all of these portraits are credited to D. Murphy, 566 Broadway, New York.

Interspersed with the printed cards are 7 carte-de-visite photographs of Sherman, Butler (after an engraving), Frémont (after an engraving, no backmark), General George P. Foster, Hancock, McClellan and wife, and a boy in a zouave uniform, photographed by E.M. Douglas of Brooklyn. Perhaps the boy is the album owner, William Stevenson? He is illustrated here.
