This lot includes three Lincoln portraits by the Brady studios (Meserve numbers 20, 39, and 87), including a beardless portrait from 27 February 1860, and the classic portrait with his son Tad from 9 February 1864. Other Union portraits include Generals Ulysses S. Grant, Ambrose Burnside, and Winfield Scott, as well as two of Senator Charles Sumner. Representing the Confederates are Jefferson Davis and General P.G.T. Beauregard. Also included from an earlier era are Commodore Matthew Perry and the widow of Capt. James Lawrence.
