Oversize Civil War-era photocollage with scores of cut-out albumen portraits and period engravings. In the center of this artful construction is a grieving widow, who's surrounded by pictures of Lincoln, Mary Todd Lincoln, Generals Grant, Sheridan, and Sherman, President Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Thumb, and a host of (unidentified) family members, several of whom are Union soldiers; many of the figures have a handwritten number (lacks the "key"). Overall size, 13 1/4x19 1/4 inches (33.6x52 cm.), sheet size 15 3/4x20 1/2 inches (40.1x52 cm.). Circa 1864
