Additional Details

Bradstreet rose through the ranks of the British military during the French and Indian War, and commanded the troops who captured Fort Frontenac and suppressed Pontiac's Rebellion. Here he writes after being appointed deputy quartermaster-general in Albany: "Being directed by General Amherst to come this way and look into the state of the provisions and see what will be wanted to be forwarded to the several garrisons upon Lake Ontario, Crown Point &c . . . I enclose you two calculations and am persuaded nothing will be wanting, that can be done, to have the full supply in time to be sent forward."
