Additional Details

Van Diest''s map is annexed to an offprint of an address given by Farish before the Colorado Scientific Society in April 1892. The pamphlet is interesting because of the mapping of the deposits around Newman Hill. The map also includes a bird''s-eye view of the town of Rico. Van Diest was a meterorologist for the Colorado School of Mines. He also opened an assay office in Denver. In 1884 he became the manager of the Sangre de Cristo grant. His maps are rarely seen.
