Additional Details

Henry Harrisse (1829-1910) was a French-born Columbus scholar and bibliographer who came young to the United States, taught history and practiced law, and then returned to France. He is best known for his 1866 Bibliotheca Americana Vetustissima: A Description of Works Relating to America Published between the Years 1492 and 1551. The manuscript volumes in this lot include 1887 notes on Tommaso Belloro's 1821 Notizie della Famiglia di Cristoforo Colombo Notes from the 1602 book Annotationes Julii Salinerii Notes from Gheltof's Lettera Inedita di Cristoforo Colombo, 1880 Notes on Belloro's 1839 Revista Critical and "Memoria de la Orden que llevaba Colon en su Libreria."
