This album was compiled by Timothy Dwight Sprague (1819-1849), and includes both Yale professors and his classmates from the Class of 1845. Contributors to this album include future Civil War general Henry B. Carrington; James B. Brinsmade, who recorded the first known reference to baseball at Yale (see Swann sale, 30 September 2010); future Chicago mayor Carter Henry Harrison; future Confederate generals Isaac Monroe St. John and Richard Taylor; future Supreme Court justice William B. Woods; and the chemistry professors Benjamin Silliman Sr. and Jr.
