Additional Details

The first separate Mexican printing of the United States Constitution. It was printed two years after Mexico had secured their own independence, and just a year before they promulgated their own first constitution, in an effort to instill the democratic ideals of their northern neighbors. The volume begins with Spanish translations of Washington's September 1796 "Farewell Address" and his June 1783 circular letter from Newburgh, resigning his command of the army. The last 26 pages are dedicated to a Spanish translation of the United States Constitution. Sabin 16060. 8 in OCLC; we trace only one other sold at auction since 1910.
