(COWS)
A fun and quintessentially American album with 78 Depression-era photographs highlighting the Carrollton, Kentucky Riverview Farms Herd of prized cattle.
Featuring an abundance of muscular bulls and grazing dairy cows, many of which are humorously named with monikers such as Spicy White, Tiddledywinks, Sure Enough, Homespun Sybildywink, Sturdy, Pipes O' Pan, Gamboge Rex, and Lily. In certain images the farmers are shown, clad in straw hats and denim overalls, while in others the photographer's shadow artfully appears. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 3x5 inches (7.6x12.7 cm.), some with the cow's name and dates in the negative, and others with the names, dates, bloodline, and additional notations, in pencil and/or ink, on verso. Oblong 4to, green leatherette; ties; with a flyer laid in including various cattle biographies. 1926-40
