with--Group of 10 NYPD rap sheets, which catalogue the offenses of Mafiosi, some of whom are represented in the above mug shots. In the 1930s local factions of the Mob joined forces to create the Syndicate, a national organization of racketeers and criminals. Their main objective was making money but it was difficult to keep the lawless in line. So, members formed what became known as Murder, Inc., which provided a "rubout" service for upstarts associated with the Syndicate. [See: Murder, Inc., The Story of the Syndicate.]
