Additional Details

M''Dougald, according to her narrative, was a Scottish mother of two who was abandoned by her lover, who fled to America. She pursued him from Canada to New York to Cincinnati, then enlisted in the Army disguised as a man, serving for years in Arkansas and Michigan, all with the intent to kill her man when she caught up with him. Not in Shaw-Shoemaker; only one copy listed in WorldCat, yet more defective than this one. The last known copy of this colorful narrative at auction was in 1924.
