Additional Details

A temperance broadside prompted by a famous arson case. Includes the text of a semi-literate 15 March 1836 letter written by Simeon L. Crockett in "Boston Gail" [sic] the night before his execution. Crockett blames alcohol for his fate, and the bottom of the sheet reinforces the message: "Go not to a Grog Shop or Bar Room, as you would avoid the awful fate of Russell and Crockett!" Only one copy in WorldCat, and no previous auction records found.
