These documents relate to the reconstruction of the Hospital de Caridad de San Francisco de Paula on Calle Obispo in Havana, which had burned down. Included are: a 4-page list of specifications in a manuscript wrapper, covering carpentry, furnishing and painting, and signed by architect Rafael Rodriguez, 12 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches, Havana, 20 May 1878 Unsigned letter on letterhead of E. Armand & Co. to Sebastian Pardo, governor of the bishopric of Havana. 3 pages, 10 x 8 inches, on one folding sheet, setting forth the decision by the Lancashire Fire Insurance Company that the insurance would not quite cover the entire cost of the reconstruction.
