Military Headquarters, Virginia Execution, Yarago Fort, Fuerte No. 7, Blanca Battery, images of medical workers, as well as scenic views, and locals posing for the photographer. Silver prints, 6 1/2x8 1/2 inches (16.5x21.5 cm.). Oblong folio, canvas, with original photograph mounted onto front cover, edgewear; lacks ties; contents clean and bright. Circa 1899

Spanish troops faced their main defeat at San Juan Hill on July 1, 1898, during the Spanish-American War, in Santiago, Cuba. On January 1, 1899, General John R. Brooke installed a military government on the island, and this was the beginning of the United States occupation of Cuba.
