The quadruple-screw liner began her life as the "Imperator" with the Hamburg-American line in 1912. As war reparation she came to Cunard and made her first sailing under the flag on 21 February 1920 as the "Imperator." She was renamed "Berengaria" in 1921. She remained a Cunarder until she went out of service in 1938.
