The triple-screw "Carmania" was the first Cunarder with steam turbines when she began service in 1905. During World War I she was converted to an armed merchant cruiser. In that capacity she shelled and sank the Hamburg-American liner "Cap Trafalgar" in 1914. She returned to passenger service in 1918 and was scrapped in 1932. Her sister ship was the "Caronia."
