The twin-screw "Laconia" entered service in 1922. She was the first trans-Atlantic liner with anti-rolling tanks. She became a troopship during World War II and was sunk in the Atlantic in September 1942 with a great loss of life. Her sister ships were "Samaria" and "Scythia."
